António Tam

António Tam is a senior associate in our Financial Services and Insurance practices.

Having served as in-house legal adviser for the Macau Monetary Authority, the banking and insurance sector regulator, as well as company secretary for the Macau Central Securities Depository, António has been at the forefront of Macau’s financial sector reform and regulatory oversight.

António represents banks, insurance companies, financial assets exchanges, fund managers, intermediaries, payment providers, and wealth management firms in a broad range of licensing and regulatory matters, both on the advisory and infringement side.

He supports clients adapting to regulatory reform and in implementing evolutionary changes to their business models and products. António’s experience includes advising on the full range of licensing and market-conduct requirements, product development and localization, securities regulation, distribution and outsourcing and corporate governance. He often supports our Corporate M&A team on the regulatory aspects of acquisitions or reorganizations of financial and insurance groups.

In his private client practice, António advises high net worth individuals and family offices on trust, estate and succession planning, wealth preservation, probate and estate administration and asset protection.

António is a part-time lecturer and Ph.D. candidate at the Faculty of Law of the University of Macau; his research mainly focuses on trust, investment funds and insurance law.
